Persons with disabilities (PWD) travel, shop and do business just like everyone else. PWD are a demographic that we cannot afford to ignore. About one in seven people that live in Ontario have a disability. This number will grow as the baby boomer generation ages. According to the 2006 American Community Survey, over 15 percent of people in the United States, or about 41.3 million people reported a disability.

Legislation is quickly catching up with the Jan. 1, 2010 the government of Ontario rolled out the first phase of its new Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. This new legislation requires the public sector to comply with new customer service standards. Private companies have until 2012 to comply.
